It’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog, and I thought it was about time to do so.
I’m slowly getting back into the groove of painting and making art at home after spending four months in France and a summer rebalancing my life.
My big realization with this long trip was that I cannot do art or write on the go. I need stability, peace, and quiet. I cannot wonder where I’m going to do my groceries. I cannot deal with moving from place to place and not having my own space. Beyond the geographical aspect, I need the energy of the place and the community. My peace of mind is made of many puzzle pieces, and being on Maui is one of them.
So now that I feel more settled in my studio, at my favorite desk, I can take my brushes and paints out. I’ve started to paint some watercolor animals (dog, chicken, cow). I’m trying new things like a cow with a Haku Lei (wreath). I love the addition of flowers.
I also played with acrylic, trying some loose patterns. I might explore acrylic with an animal.
I am planning to add two more sea turtles and whale paintings to my Hawaii collection, creating a tryptic for each.
And again, I’m back at creating an Etsy shop—for real this time. :) I guess even for that, I needed stability. I should have it open and going before the end of the year. I will first put my originals and then add prints and cards.
Now, let’s get to play!
